Services Performed
- Inspected vehicle for battery and charging system concerns. Found the battery to be completely dead upon arrival. Started engine and tested for output voltage at the alternator, found 11.2V at alternator stud and at battery terminal. This indicates the cable is good and every thing on the charging system is functional, except for the alternator. Drive belt is in good condition and tensioner is tight. Recommend replacing alternator and charging battery to see if it can come back and hold a charge.
- Drained cooling system into a clean catch pan to reuse. Removed radiator fan and coolant hose, loosened core support bolts to tip radiator out of the way. Removed drive belt and alternator. Installed new remanufactured alternator and torqued to spec. Reinstalled all components and tested charging system. Vacuum filled cooling system with captured coolant and topped system off with new Mopar OAT coolant. Found out put to be 14.2V with loads present. Charging system is functional again. Cleaned off coolant mess and performed test drive.
